Use Electric University as a Science Kit and Safety Model!
The Electric University is an excellent science kit for the classroom. At 24 inches wide by 12 inches deep, it is a half-size replica of the 4 foot powerTOWN table. Use this scale model to demonstrate the same contact hazards as the full-sized powerTOWN.
Electric University is safe for youngsters to assemble and operate. The battery-powered unit emits a buzzer sound when electrical contacts are made. A bulb also lights up as contacts are made so students with hearing impairments can appreciate the electrical safety lessons. The Electric University kit requires two 9-volt batteries.
The model is designed as an educational resource to be wired by students. Everything needed to assemble the unit comes in kit form. Complete assembly instructions and a teachers resource are included. Wiring connections are made underneath the board. Wires are cut to correct lengths and have crimped on terminal ring connections at each end. Wires can be easily fastened to contact points by hand using wing nuts.
An optional Call Before You Dig attachment can be added to demonstrate the hazard of excavating near buried electrical cables.
