Voice over and animation describe the goals of the Power Bandit program. Students are introduced to the Power Bandit, who steals energy through waste and inefficiency. The students are shown the Power Bandit Tracker, a high-tech van with special equipment to track the Power Bandit. Students are encouraged to learn about energy—its sources, distribution and safety. Then, through conservation, they are encouraged to "beat the bandit" and make the world a more energy efficient place. A "skip intro" button allows users to bypass this section.

This animated screen gives credits to program sponsors for orders of 50 or more CDs. Moving the cursor over the picture of the console brings up the message "To Tracker Control." Click on the center console to navigate the Power Bandit Tracker Control.

Power Bandit Tracker Control

There are four quadrants of the tracker control screen. These are labeled "Get the Basics" (science concepts), "Use Caution" (safety rules), "Beat the Bandit" (conservation), and "Get the Power" (electrical generation and distribution).

There are "Info" and Glossary" buttons at the bottom of the tracker control. Clicking on the info button provides copyright information and access to a PDF file containing information for the teacher. Clicking on Glossary reveals a list of terms and definitions helpful for students' understanding of energy and conservation.
